Silica Terms of Use and Licence
Last updated: 20 October 2026
These terms apply when you download or use the Silica app, or buy Silica Premium. They do not affect your legal rights as a consumer, which are summarised in section 10.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
These terms are a contract between you and Aromacraft Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15097606), whose registered office is at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, which provides Silica ("we", "us", "our").
- Help and complaints: [email protected]
- Telephone: 07916 260399
- Privacy: [email protected]
- Legal notices and copyright or abuse reports: [email protected]
If we need to contact you, we will use the email address on your Silica household (if you have given one) or a message in the app.
2. What Silica is, and is not
Silica is a media player and organiser. Silica does not provide, sell, host or recommend any content, channels, playlists or programme guide data. It works only with sources you add yourself, such as an M3U/M3U8 playlist, an Xtream-compatible account or an XMLTV guide.
Your arrangements with the providers of those sources are between you and them, not us. We have no relationship with them, do not check them, and are not responsible for their availability, quality, legality or content.
3. Your licence to use Silica
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Silica on devices you own or control, for your own and your household's non-commercial use. We may end that licence only in the circumstances in clause 8.
The app is licensed to you, not sold. We (or our licensors) own the app, the Silica name and brand, and the silica.tv website.
Where you got Silica from Google Play or the Amazon Appstore, that store's terms also apply to your download. If they conflict with these terms on how the store's services work, the store's terms win.
4. Your sources and your responsibilities
You are responsible for the sources you add to Silica. You must only add sources that you have the right to use. By adding a source, you confirm that you are entitled to access it and to view its content in the way you use it.
You must not use Silica to:
- access, view or distribute content you are not authorised to access;
- break the law, or infringe anyone's copyright or other rights;
- get around Premium checks, the device limit or any other technical protection in Silica, or share, resell or rent Premium outside your household;
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except to the extent the law allows you to (for example, to make it work with other software);
- interfere with, overload or attack our systems or other users; or
- remove or change any notices in the app.
We may report copyright or abuse complaints we receive to the relevant authorities where the law requires it. To report a concern, email [email protected].
5. Silica Premium
Silica is free to download and use. Silica Premium is an optional paid upgrade that unlocks extra features. The features included are described in the app and at silica.tv/premium at the time you buy.
5.0 Age
You must be 18 or over to buy Silica Premium. By paying, you confirm that you are.
5.1 Plans and prices
| Plan | Price (UK, on the web) | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | £2.49 a month | Premium for one month at a time, renewing automatically |
| Annual | £19.99 a year | Premium for one year at a time, renewing automatically |
| Lifetime | £49.99 once | Premium for as long as we continue to offer Silica (see 5.4) |
Prices for UK web purchases include VAT. The price shown before you pay is the total price. Prices in Google Play and the Amazon Appstore are set in those stores and shown in your local currency before you pay, so they may differ.
5.1A Founding prices
The founding period runs for 90 days from launch. We show its exact dates here when Premium goes on sale.
Until the last day of the founding period, the annual plan costs £14.99 a year and lifetime costs £39.99 once on the web. These founding prices apply if you start a UK web checkout at the founding price before 00:00 UTC on the day the founding period ends, even if you finish paying after that time while the checkout is still open. For UK web checkouts started on or after the day the founding period ends, annual costs £19.99 a year and lifetime costs £49.99, as in the table above. The monthly plan stays at £2.49 a month throughout.
A plan change costs the same as a new purchase at that moment: if you switch to annual in your subscription settings before the day the founding period ends, annual costs £14.99 a year; from the day the founding period ends, it costs £19.99 a year.
If you start an annual subscription at the founding price, it renews at £14.99 a year until we change its price under 6.4, which gives you at least 30 days' notice. The founding price ends if you change plan (for example, to monthly), or if the subscription ends: for example, you cancel and the period you paid for runs out, a renewal payment still has not gone through 14 days after it was due (see 5.5), or we refund a subscription payment in full and cancel the subscription. A partial refund does not end it. If you turn renewal off and back on after the last day of the founding period, we move the subscription to the annual price for new customers under 6.4.
5.2 Your household and devices
Premium belongs to your household, your Premium account in Silica. It can be used on up to 5 devices at a time, whichever store or platform you bought it on. To add a sixth device, remove one first in the app. Premium is for you and the people you live with; it must not be shared outside your household.
5.3 Where you can buy, and whose terms apply
- On the web (account.silica.tv): you buy from us, and Stripe processes the payment. Section 6 applies.
- Google Play: you buy from Google Commerce Limited under the Google Play Terms of Service. Google handles billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds (see our Refund and cancellation policy).
- Amazon Appstore: Amazon processes the payment under Amazon's terms. Amazon sells lifetime Premium only, so there is nothing to renew or cancel. Refunds are handled by Amazon (see our Refund and cancellation policy).
Whichever store you use, these terms govern your use of Silica and Premium.
5.4 What "lifetime" means
"Lifetime" means as long as we continue to offer the Silica product. It does not mean your lifetime, the lifetime of a device, or a promise that Silica will operate forever. It is not tied to one device. It stays with your household, on up to 5 devices at a time.
We will not end lifetime Premium merely because we would prefer not to honour it. If we permanently stop offering Silica, we will give you at least 90 days' notice before access ends. We will send that notice by email if your household has an email address, and we will also show it in the app. If that permanent closure falls within 12 months of your lifetime purchase, we will refund the price in full. After those 12 months, access ends on the date in the notice and we do not refund the purchase.
5.5 When Premium ends
A purchase stops providing Premium when its paid access expires or the payment provider revokes it. For web purchases, a full refund ends access funded by that purchase. Failed web renewals are dealt with under our Refunds and cancellation policy.
Premium continues if another valid purchase covers your household. Otherwise, Premium features stop on its devices. Your free features, sources and settings remain available.
If your bank reverses a payment, we may suspend access funded by that payment while the dispute is resolved. If the payment is restored and you remain entitled to Premium, we will restore access or refund paid time we did not provide. Other valid Premium purchases are unaffected.
6. Buying on the web
6.1 How the contract is made
You choose a plan at account.silica.tv and enter your card and billing address in Stripe's payment form on that page. Place your order with the Subscribe and pay button for a monthly or annual plan, or the Pay button for lifetime. Placing your order obliges you to pay. The contract is made when your payment is confirmed. We then send you a confirmation by email. Web checkout is currently available only to customers with a UK billing address. If the billing address you give at checkout is outside the UK, we cannot accept the purchase. We will cancel it, refund the full amount to your payment method within 14 days, and end any Premium it started. Outside the UK, you can buy Premium through Google Play where Google Play offers it.
6.2 Premium starts straight away
Premium is digital content and starts as soon as your payment is confirmed. Before you pay, we ask you to agree to this and to confirm that you understand you lose your legal 14-day right to cancel once it starts. The exact wording is in our Refund and cancellation policy and in the checkout panel on account.silica.tv.
You can still ask for a full goodwill refund within 14 days, with no questions asked. See the Refund and cancellation policy.
As soon as payment is confirmed, we email confirmation of the contract and your acknowledgement. Until that email has been sent, we do not treat your 14-day right to cancel as ended.
6.3 Subscriptions renew automatically
Monthly and annual plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. We charge the payment method you used. You can change plan or cancel using the Manage or cancel your subscription link in the Silica app and at silica.tv/premium, or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation stops the next renewal; Premium continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Switching between monthly and annual takes effect immediately and resets your billing date. Stripe credits unused time on your paid plan against the new plan. For a move to annual, the credit reduces the amount due now. For a move to monthly, it pays for the monthly period starting on the change date and then later monthly periods until it runs out. The portal shows the amount due and any remaining credit before you confirm. While your subscription is active, we do not pay it back to your card. If your subscription ends with unused plan-switch credit, email [email protected]. We will respond within 14 days and return the unused credit without undue delay. We will use the original payment method where possible, or agree another method with you. We charge no refund fee. If we refund a plan-change charge in full, we end that web subscription. Premium continues if another valid purchase covers your household. A partial refund does not end Premium. The 14-day goodwill refund also covers a charge for a plan change.
If your household buys lifetime Premium on the web while it has a web subscription, we stop that subscription renewing. You keep the subscription until the paid period ends. We do not refund that period. If that period's charge was within the last 14 days, you can still ask for a goodwill refund. If a payment on it is due but has not gone through, we cancel the subscription straight away and do not take that payment. We cannot stop a Google Play subscription; cancel it in Google Play. If you are refunded for lifetime, a subscription we stopped does not restart. You can subscribe again.
6.4 Price changes
We may increase a subscription price to reflect changes in tax, legal requirements or the cost of providing Premium. Any increase will be proportionate to the reason. We will email you the reason, new price and first affected renewal date at least 30 days beforehand. You can cancel before that renewal without a cancellation fee and keep access already paid for. We will not increase the price for a period already paid for.
The founding-price rules in clause 5.1A also apply. Lifetime purchases have no further charge.
7. Changes to Silica
We may update Silica to fix faults, maintain security or comply with law. Updates must not remove or materially reduce Premium features you have paid for without your agreement. If an essential change would do so, we will explain it in advance and offer an appropriate refund if you do not accept it. Your statutory rights are not subject to a 30-day claim limit.
Silica needs a compatible device, operating system and internet connection. We do not promise it will work with every device, source or format.
8. Ending these terms
You can stop using Silica at any time by uninstalling it. To cancel a web subscription, see section 6.3. To cancel a Google Play subscription, cancel it in Google Play. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
We may suspend or end your licence, or your access to Premium, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms (for example, by trying to get around Premium checks or reselling Premium). Unless there is a security or legal reason not to, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right. If we end paid Premium for a reason other than a serious breach by you, we will refund prepaid subscription time you will not receive. For lifetime Premium, clause 5.4 applies. Your statutory rights remain unchanged.
9. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if we both knew it might happen when the contract was made.
If faulty digital content we supply damages a device or other digital content belonging to you, and this is because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation.
We are not responsible for:
- your sources, or anything their providers do or fail to do, including their content, availability or legality;
- losses caused by your breaking these terms or the law; or
- losses that were not foreseeable.
Silica is for domestic and private use. If you use it wholly for the purposes of your business, we do not accept liability for loss of profit, business or opportunity. Nothing in this clause limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights if you are a consumer.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit or exclude, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Your legal rights
Silica Premium is digital content. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 it must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is faulty, you are entitled to a repair or replacement, or, if that is not possible or does not fix the problem, a price reduction or refund. For detailed information, visit Citizens Advice at citizensadvice.org.uk or call 0808 223 1133. Nothing in these terms affects these rights.
If you live outside the UK, the UK rights described here do not replace mandatory consumer rights that apply where you normally live. Those rights take precedence over anything in these terms that conflicts with them.
Where the law requires updates, including security updates, we will provide them for the required period. Mandatory remedies for digital content that is not supplied or does not conform remain available, including bringing it into conformity, a price reduction, or ending the contract with a refund where the law provides.
Any services we supply must be performed with reasonable care and skill. Binding information we give about them forms part of the contract. If a service falls below these standards, you may be entitled to repeat performance or a price reduction, including a refund where appropriate.
Where the law gives you a cancellation right, our goodwill policy does not replace or restrict it. Tell us clearly that you wish to cancel. We will make any required refund without undue delay and within 14 days of your notice, using the original payment method unless you agree otherwise. We charge no refund fee.
If you have a statutory right to cancel, email us or use the cancellation form. You do not have to use the form.
11. Complaints
To complain, email [email protected] or write to our registered office. We will investigate and give you a written response. If an ADR scheme we are required to use applies to your complaint, we will explain how to refer it. Otherwise, we are not obliged to participate in ADR and do not agree to do so. You may still bring a claim in court.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
13. Other important terms
- Changes to these terms. Changes apply to future purchases unless you expressly agree otherwise or the law requires the change. We will explain any legally required change before it takes effect where possible. We will not use a change to reduce your statutory rights or remove paid-for rights without an appropriate remedy. Subscription price changes are governed by clause 6.4.
- Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation. We will tell you, and your rights will not be reduced. You may not transfer your rights to anyone else.
- Nobody else has rights under these terms. They are between you and us.
- If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest continue to apply.
- Delay. If we do not insist on something straight away, we can still insist on it later.
- Governing law and courts. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. This does not take away mandatory consumer protections that apply under the law of the country where you normally live. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings there. If you live elsewhere, you keep any right under applicable law to bring proceedings in your home courts. We will bring proceedings against you only in a court permitted by applicable consumer-jurisdiction rules.
- Contract language. These terms are in English. We will provide any other language version required by applicable law before you buy.
