Nothing in this policy affects your legal rights (see "If something is wrong" below).
Bought on the web (account.silica.tv)
Web checkout is currently available only to customers with a UK billing address. If the billing address you give at checkout is outside the UK, we cannot accept the purchase. We will cancel it, refund the full amount to your payment method within 14 days, and end any Premium it started.
Your 14-day cancellation right, and why it ends when Premium starts
The law normally gives you 14 days to cancel an online purchase. For digital content like Silica Premium, that right ends once the content starts, but only if you asked for it to start straight away and confirmed you understood you would lose the right.
Premium starts as soon as your payment is confirmed. Before you pay, we ask you to tick this box:
Start my Premium now. I want Silica Premium to start as soon as my payment is confirmed. I understand that I then lose my 14-day right to cancel this purchase. I do not lose my rights if Premium is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose.
After you pay, we confirm this in writing, by email. If you do not tick the box, you cannot complete the purchase.
Our 14-day goodwill refund
Even though the legal right ends once Premium starts and you have received our confirmation email, we offer a goodwill refund: if you change your mind within 14 days of being charged, email us and we will refund you in full, with no questions asked.
Email [email protected] from the address you used at checkout. We use that only to find the payment. You do not have to give a reason. This goodwill refund covers your first web purchase, each later monthly or annual charge, a charge for switching between monthly and annual, and a lifetime purchase. Email us within 14 days of the charge. We will send the refund to the same payment method within 5 working days of your email. Your bank may take longer to show it.
If we refund a subscription charge, we cancel the Stripe subscription before we send the refund, so you are not charged again.
If your subscription ends with unused plan-switch credit, email [email protected]. We will respond within 14 days and return the unused credit without undue delay. We will use the original payment method where possible, or agree another method with you. We charge no refund fee.
A refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is separate. We send that refund within 14 days of agreeing you are entitled to it, to the same payment method, and we do not charge a fee.
A partial refund does not end Premium.
After 14 days, we do not normally refund a change of mind. Your legal rights still apply (see below).
What happens to Premium when you are refunded
A full web refund ends access funded by that purchase. Premium continues if another valid purchase covers your household. Your free features, sources and settings remain available.
If your bank reverses a payment, we may suspend access funded by that payment while the dispute is resolved. If the payment is restored and you remain entitled to Premium, we will restore access or refund paid time we did not provide. Other valid Premium purchases are unaffected.
Cancelling a web subscription
You can cancel a monthly or annual web subscription at any time using the Manage or cancel your subscription link in the Silica app and at silica.tv/premium, or by emailing [email protected].
When you cancel, you are not charged again. Premium continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, then stops. Cancelling does not by itself refund the current period; if you are within 14 days of the last charge, ask for a goodwill refund as well.
Uninstalling Silica does not cancel a subscription.
Founding annual subscriptions
The founding period runs for 90 days from launch. We show its exact dates here when Premium goes on sale.
An annual subscription started at the founding price of £14.99 renews at £14.99 a year until we change its price with at least 30 days' notice (see clauses 5.1A and 6.4 of our Terms). The founding price ends if you change plan (for example, to monthly), or if the subscription ends: for example, you cancel and the period you paid for runs out, a renewal payment still has not gone through 14 days after it was due, or we refund a subscription payment in full. A plan change costs the same as a new purchase at that moment: if you switch to annual in your subscription settings before the day the founding period ends, annual costs £14.99 a year; from the day the founding period ends, it costs £19.99 a year. Founding prices apply if you start a UK web checkout at the founding price before 00:00 UTC on the day the founding period ends, even if you finish paying after that time while the checkout is still open. Turning renewal off and back on after the founding window also ends eligibility for the founding annual price. We will give at least 30 days' email notice before charging the standard annual price at a renewal.
If a renewal payment fails
If a renewal payment fails, we try it again and Premium continues for up to 14 days. If it still has not gone through after 14 days, the subscription ends, Premium stops, and we do not take that payment later.
Lifetime purchases
A lifetime purchase is a single payment with nothing to cancel. Lifetime means as long as we continue to offer Silica. It does not mean your lifetime, and it is not locked to one device. The 14-day goodwill refund also applies.
If your household buys lifetime Premium on the web while it has a web subscription, we stop that subscription renewing. You keep the subscription until the paid period ends. We do not refund that period. If that period's charge was within the last 14 days, you can still ask for a goodwill refund. If a payment on it is due but has not gone through, we cancel the subscription straight away and do not take that payment. We cannot stop a Google Play subscription; cancel it in Google Play.
If you are refunded for lifetime, a subscription we stopped does not restart. You can subscribe again.
Bought on Google Play
Google handles payments, renewals, cancellations and refunds for purchases made through Google Play.
- To cancel: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, choose Silica and Cancel subscription.
- Refunds: follow Google Play's refund policy and request a refund through Google Play.
- Premium continues until the end of the period you have paid for. If Google revokes your purchase or its paid access expires, that purchase stops providing Premium. A refund does not always revoke access. Another valid purchase can keep your household's Premium active.
Bought on the Amazon Appstore
Amazon handles payments and refunds for purchases made through the Amazon Appstore. Amazon sells lifetime Premium only, so there is nothing to cancel.
- Refunds: follow Amazon's Appstore refund policy and request a refund from Amazon.
- If Amazon refunds a purchase, the Premium it paid for ends on all your household's devices.
Bought Premium twice by mistake?
Premium works across all your devices, whichever store you use, so you only need it once. If you have bought it twice, for example once on the web and once in a store, email [email protected]. We will refund the web purchase, and tell you how to cancel or ask for a refund of the store purchase. If you bought lifetime on the web while you had a web subscription, see "Lifetime purchases" above.
If something is wrong
Whatever this policy says, you have legal rights if Silica Premium is faulty, not as described or not fit for purpose. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you are entitled to a repair or replacement, or, if that is not possible or does not fix the problem, a price reduction or refund. Email [email protected] and tell us what is wrong. These rights apply whichever store you bought from.
Any services we supply must be performed with reasonable care and skill. Binding information we give about them forms part of the contract. If a service falls below these standards, you may be entitled to repeat performance or a price reduction, including a refund where appropriate.
Where the law gives you a cancellation right, our goodwill policy does not replace or restrict it. Tell us clearly that you wish to cancel. We will make any required refund without undue delay and within 14 days of your notice, using the original payment method unless you agree otherwise. We charge no refund fee.
If you have a statutory right to cancel, email us or use the cancellation form. You do not have to use the form.
If you live outside the UK, the UK rights described here do not replace mandatory consumer rights that apply where you normally live. Those rights take precedence over anything in this policy that conflicts with them.
